Salt and Pepper 5 Spice Tofu

Tofu never tasted so good! Fried in a salt and pepper 5 spice mix & served with a rich peanut sauce.

    • 450g of Blue Dragon Tofu
    • 1/2 thinly sliced white onion
    • 3 spring onions cut into 2cm strips
    • 1 red chilli, finely sliced
    • 2 cloves of garlic, crushed.
    • 2 tbs. Blue Dragon Sesame Oil
    • 1 tbs. of salt
    • 1 tbs. of 5 spice powder
    • 1 tbs. of sugar
    • 1/2 tbs. of white pepper
    • 2 star anise
    • 6 tbsp. crunchy peanut butter
    • 1 tbsp. Blue Dragon Sweet Chilli Sauce
    • 165ml Blue Dragon Coconut Milk
    • 1 tbsp. tomato puree
    • 25g salted roasted peanuts, chopped
    1. To make the salt and pepper 5 spice mix, add salt, 5 spice, sugar, white pepper and star anise in a bowl and mix together.
    2. Cut the tofu into 2cm cubes.
    3. Fill wok or pan up 2cm of vegetable oil and once heated add your tofu, once golden brown remove from your pan and place on some kitchen roll to dry off oil.
    4. To heated wok or pan add 2 tbs. of vegetable oil then add the garlic, chilli, onion and spring onion to the wok and stir until soft.
    5. Once veg has softened add in the tofu and toss.
    6. Once the tofu and vegetables are mixed sprinkle the salt and pepper 5 spice mix to taste.
    7. To make the sauce, mix together the crunchy peanut butter, Blue Dragon Sweet Chilli Dipping Sauce, Blue Dragon Coconut Milk, tomato puree and chopped peanuts in a bowl. Add a little boiling water if necessary to achieve a smooth consistency. Serve on the side of the plate with the tofu.
